How to Wear High Heels Painlessly?
For generations, women have struggled with the inner battle between looking their best and feeling comfortable. With regards to shoes, this is often an either or decision. High heels look fabulous but can be very straining on feet, particularly if they’re worn all the time. Here are some tips on how to wear high heels as painlessly as possible.

Seasonal Heels
For spring and summer, get hold of some wedges. Once these are worn in properly, they should be completely painless. Although they may not seem quite so glamorous as shoes with a thin heel, they are preferable to flat shoes in which you might feel too plain. Matching lower wedges with a shirt and pencil skirt is perfect office-wear, with perhaps some higher wedges for more social occasions. Any heel will give definition to the legs.
In Autumn and Winter, shift your attention to boots. Black leather boots with a small wedge-style heel and stiletto-style front are the perfect solution to icy weather conditions. When conditions are less severe, boots with a high, thicker heel should prove to be painless for day to day or office wear. Again, for social events treat yourself to boots with a thinner heel. Because boots have more general support, they are the perfect way to wear heels during these months.
Gel Pads and Other Products
Compeed do an excellent range of blister-beating products, to aid women who love to wear heels. These include varying sizes of blister patches, helping both to protect and heel those sensitive areas which always seem to pop up after you’ve bought a fabulous pair of new shoes. They also make general foot care products, including overnight cracked heel cream, as keeping feet as healthy as possible is important for any woman on the go.
Ultra Arch make a fantastic product; a shock-absorbent gel pad which fits into the bottom of any shoes of any size. These are designed to ensure day-long comfort whatever shoes you’re wearing.
Wear Shoes In
When you buy a beautiful new pair of shoes, it’s tantamount that you pace yourself with them and break them in over time, rather than just wearing them exhaustively. Why not ensure that you only wear them for an hour, when you meet a friend to lunch? Or keep a different pair of shoes in your bag, and switch if the new ones begin to feel uncomfortable? After a while, your feet will have adapted to the new shoes and vice versa. Meanwhile, you’ve saved them from too much ware and tare.
Choose Thicker Heels
For everyday wear thicker heels are the perfect compromise. They look great and offer more support to your feet than a thinner heel would. Furthermore, you can get them in most styles, from smart office wear, to summer sandals, to winter boots. Have as many pairs of thick-heeled shoes as you do thin.
Give Your Feet a Rest
Take your heels off immediately when you get home in the evening. If your feet are feeling worse for wear, treat them to a foot-spa treatment and keep them well moisturized. If you wake up and your feet are sore, why not try and wear flat shoes for just one day?
Remember, you’ve only got one pair of feet, so look after them. However, as long as you do there is no reason not to look fabulous and feel empowered by wearing those fabulous high heels.
Ginger Rogers did everything Fred Astaire did, but backwards and in high heels.
